The Grand Black - Rural Missouri Venue

Updated: Jul 24, 2024

My bride, Kennedy, wanted an elegant wedding in the heart of Missouri. Her meticulous planning and sense of style resulted in a black-and-white wedding that was elegant but still comfortable for their friends and family to be at ease.

This sweet couple gathered a devoted crew of guests thrilled to celebrate their marriage after ten years together. I was touched by how emotional the groom, Ryan, was during the first look, waiting for her to come down the aisle and throughout the reception.

Of course, the emotion makes for great photos, but more importantly, it is an incredible reminder that these wedding days aren’t about all the well-planned and gorgeous details—they are about a dream coming true.

The Grand Black - Licking, Missouri

The Grand Black is nestled in the country near Montauk State Park. It is a modern 8,000-square-foot barn that can accommodate up to 300 people. The grounds provide various settings for your wedding photos, including a pond, open meadows, and a mature oak forest.

This venue is just over 2 hours from St. Louis, 4 hours from Kansas City, 2 hours from Springfield, and 40 minutes from Rolla.

The venue was the perfect choice for Kennedy and Ryan’s black-and-white wedding. The airy venue was striking, spacious, and full of light. I love how the lines and angles of a venue like this contrast with the soft details like dresses and florals.

Fun Loving Couple

This wedding was full of joy. The black-and-white palette allowed the tiny touches and personalizations throughout the day to stand out. The personalized playing cards and sunglasses were just one sign that this couple was fun-loving. The picture wall showcasing their decade together was an undeniable testament.

Great Light and Architecture at The Grand Black

Light flows through this crisp and clean venue. The white beams and rafters strike against the black ceiling. The chandeliers sparkle, and the open staircase adds interest without blocking movement throughout the room. The joy and energy of the bride and groom simply popped against every surface of the venue.
